"...students didn't just see it, they were part of it!..."

"The whole JAM Band experience from booking, receiving the song line up/links/curriculum materials, to teaching the songs and culminating with the performance was wonderful. As a Performing Arts Teacher (NIT), I was able to link the songs into my Music focus for my R-2 classes for Term 2 and used them to teach musical concepts such as beat, rhythm and pitch. This tied in perfectly with the Australian Curriculum (however, any year level from R-6 could also work well). The students really enjoyed learning the variety of songs, and then to see/hear them played live at the performance was an absolute highlight. The way all students were involved, and a selection of students had the opportunity to play special roles such as dressing up, holding props or playing instruments was such a delight. I was able to use these special roles as an incentive throughout the term to encourage students to try their best, and these students were selected in advance to assist with organisation and the smooth running of performance day. I also involved a group of keen upper primary students who performed a dance number to the 'optional' performance song 'Dynamite'. These students also assisted with the setting up and organisation and supported the R-2 students on performance day (which was an excellent leadership opportunity for them). I would highly recommend the JAM Band experience to any primary school. The band members were friendly, very organised, creative, and super talented! They really understood how to engage primary age children. It was a rich musical experience for all students, that provided us with a focal point to work towards and to look forward to. We loved it so much, we have already re-booked for the same time next year!"

"I booked a JAM Band performance as part of our annual Arts Week celebration after reading the marketing email they sent out very early in 2024. I figured that if only half of everything promised was delivered, it would be one of the better performances our school has hosted. As it turned out, they delivered all of it and much more … which made for an “off-the-charts” musical experience!
When the band arrived on-site, their impact was instantaneous … the students’ excitement was palpable and they couldn’t wait for their turn! Drawn in from the beginning because they were familiar with the songs, they gave themselves over to the power of the performance. The number and size of smiles across our gymnasium (book your largest space for this performance as you’ll need every inch!) was wonderful to behold!
The music selected was known well ahead of time through the Band’s simple and effective communication channels – thanks, Jono! - and the requested preparation was well worth my effort because students of all levels – Prep to Year 6 – embraced the performance wholeheartedly from the first moment. As we know, familiarity counts, and students were sneakily introduced to new music and music styles while also enjoying current pop music! Sixty-seven students per performance had the opportunity to participate and shine in full costume during each performance, and the vast majority of students joined in with singing and dancing when invited to. No-one was still for long, regardless of age and stage of life! When speaking with students later, many commented that they had a fabulous time and felt included even if they weren’t on the list of costume wearers because there was so much going on to keep them engaged and focussed. Words Year 3 students used to describe their show included active and fun, inclusive, entertaining, interactive, very groovy, familiar and catchy songs, and they loved the characters, too. Year 5 student comments included “They made it really fun.” “All songs were interactive and cool.” “I was not bored for one second!”
Each JAM Band member is a skilled musician as you’d expect, but what amazed and delighted us in equal parts was their ability to work with 350+ students – who were highly excited and expecting great things at their performance – while maintaining steadfast student management and control. They are truly masters of their craft, and our students were in very safe hands throughout. The band members recharged quickly and maintained the same level of intensity and engagement for the second performance, too. They were truly “in the zone” and delivered without question!
After the performances, almost half the students and staff approached me specifically to ask whether we could invite them back again next year. I’ve never had such a consistently positive response to a live performance group before, and that was the clincher … we’ve already invited them back to perform their new 2025 show for us in November next year ... and WE CAN’T WAIT!"

"PS: Please don’t let the costumes scare you off! Provided and administered by the Band, they were magnificently managed as part of the show and became a point of interested anticipation for all."
"Thanks so much for coming to our school last Friday. The staff and students had an absolute ball throughout your performance and according to a number of sources, were still buzzing at the end of the day! Your choice of songs, the way you involved the selected groups of students and the audience, your energy and playing made for a thoroughly engaging and joyful time for all."

"The atmosphere at our school was buzzing with anticipation as students and teachers alike prepared for the arrival of the JAM Band. With excitement in the air, we couldn’t wait to see how this interactive and educational incursion would unfold. Little did we know, it would be a performance to remember! From the moment the band took the stage, the energy was electric. The performance was seamless, witty, and incredibly engaging. It wasn’t just a show; it was an experience that brought everyone together—young and old alike—connecting through the power of music. The band truly knew how to involve the audience. One of the highlights was seeing students dressed up in colourful costumes, bringing an extra layer of fun to the performance. They also encouraged participation, inviting everyone to dance and sing along, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and joy. In an unforgettable moment, some of our own students had the incredible opportunity to perform with the band for a song, leaving everyone cheering. Adding to the excitement, we were provided with comprehensive, curriculum-aligned resources in the lead-up to the performance. These materials not only prepared the students but also enhanced the learning experience during the show. As the band explained musical concepts and instruments, it became clear that they were dedicated to making education fun. As they said, "All you need to do is add music!" They added music and so much more. Overall, the JAM band performance was an incredible experience that left everyone buzzing with joy. I would highly recommend this to other schools looking to create a memorable and educational event. It was a true celebration of music and community, and I can’t wait to see what they bring next! Thanks again for a wonderful show!" Tiffany McCallum McAuley Community School
"What an absolute joy to have the JAM Band perform at our school. As a Music Teacher, I loved seeing the kids love it. I think I smiled throughout the entire show. It was great that JAM Band sent their list of songs in advance so that I could practise them with the students, then we could all sing along on the day. Thanks to the JAM Band, the whole school got to see just how exciting and amazing Music can be. In fact, students didn’t just see it, they were part of it! I don’t think you can match the elation that comes from kids seeing their peers, in costumes, out the front, and up and down the aisles, joining in with the performance. Sensational." "What an absolute blast!!! The JAM Band's incredibly clever, interactive performance had our students from Years R-7 (and teachers!!) dancing, singing and the top of their lungs, and in stitches of laughter! Couldn't recommend them more! We can't wait to have them back!" Chelsea Todd Seacliff Primary School
On Friday April 5th, Burnside Primary School was dazzled by the talents of the Just Add Music Band! JAM Band provided a hilariously energetic, enchanting, and pulsating performance utilising a variety of props, costumes, musical instruments, and excellent theatre production focused on music education. Throughout the term, students have been preparing for the performance by singing, dancing, utilising drama through participating in performing arts activities aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Indeed, the shows were of high quality and superb, folks. Furthermore, the students' hard work was on display as the JAMBAND members were positively exhilarated with the level of student participation and choreography. Well done everyone and what a perfect way to keep the post-Easter vibes going! Thanks JAMBAND, we’ll be grooving along to those funky ‘Gap Band’ tunes, “High steppin’, low steppin’, rock steppin’, roll steppin’, rollin’ on down the floor!” Yeah, we can dig it and can’t wait for a whole new show to return in 2025!
