Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Find an answer here.

Will the show still be good if I ran out of time to properly prepare the students? Yes! We have intentionally designed our show to be an amazing experience for you and your students even without any preparation at all. However, your students will gain more value out of the show if they are familiar with the songs beforehand.

I won't be there on the day, what should I do to make the show the best it can be? Read Jono's emails carefully and follow the basic steps in the documentation provided. Please ensure you pass on all information to a teacher who will be there on the day.

What's the deal with student participation and the stickers? We offer opportunites for approximately 50 of your students to be special guest performers as part of our show. We provide all costumes and props. All you need to do is read the show preparation document carefully and choose your students, and then on the day those students will receive coloured stickers and as the show gets under way we will tell them everything they need to know!

Do I need to provide the stickers? Nope! When JAM Band members arrive to your school on the day, they will give you the coloured stickers to hand out to your students ahead of their arrival to the performance venue.

We don't have enough students to make the minimum, what can I do to still book JAM Band? The "minimum number" is simply the number that guarantees us a minimum income for providing the show. If you can still pay the minimum we can perform even with a very small audience! But if this is a difficulty, perhaps you can approach another school or two nearby and combine with them. Please don't hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to come up with a solution. Our goal is to be able to bring JAM Band to every student out there!

Can I take photos during the show? Absolutely! And please post them to your school's social media/newsletter/website and tag us!

Can our school invite other people, like friends and family, to watch the show? Yes! The more the merrier. The only restriction with this is that you may not charge an entry fee to such people, and you are responsible for ensuring any guests have the required checks and clearances as per your individual school policy.

What support is in place for neurodivergent students? We have created some basic resources that may help some students, including a show "set list" that they can follow along with and a "can you find" to help them focus on what's happening around them. Come and see us on the day or speak to us ahead of time about any particular needs or ideas you may have around this.

Do I need to provide sound equipment or a stage for the band? We bring all of our own professional sound equipment. We do not require a stage but if you have one we will use it! Drama blocks are handy but again, not required.

We only have a small venue, what other options are there for our students to see JAM Band? We have performed in some very small spaces! As long as there is adequate room for the audience and about 5 extra metres at the front for the band, we can make it work. But if there really is nothing adequate available then perhaps you can hire out a local church or hall within walking distance from your school, or combine with a nearby school.
