Will the show still be valuable if we don’t have time to prepare the students? Absolutely. JAM Band is designed to be impactful with zero prep. Students are engaged from the very first note - learning through movement, music, storytelling and shared experience. Even without rehearsal, they: - build confidence through participation, - experience joy and belonging through collective music-making, and - strengthen curriculum-aligned capabilities (music, drama, social skills, critical and creative thinking). Many schools simply play a few songs beforehand, but it’s not required for the show to be powerful and meaningful.
What support and resources do teachers receive? Once your show is booked, you get access to a Google Drive folder with: - Show outline & song list - Audio & video links - Curriculum activities and ideas (aligned with Australian Curriculum v9) - Tips for making the experience smooth and low-fuss You can do as much or as little as you like. Teachers love that the program enhances learning without adding to their workload.
How do students participate during the show? JAM Band is super interactive for every student in attendance - whether they’re on stage or in the audience. - Around 50 students take on featured on-stage roles with costumes and props. - Everyone else sings, moves and joins in from the audience with clear cues and big energy. - We provide stickers and instructions to make transitions easy. - Roles can be allocated ahead of time or on the day. This creates an immersive, whole-school experience that builds confidence, belonging and joy.
Do we need to provide sound, stage or equipment? Nope - JAM Band brings everything: professional sound, lighting, instruments and staging elements. We can perform in gyms, halls, multipurpose spaces and even outdoors. A stage is great but not required.
What if we have a small venue or few students? We’re flexible, and we love performing for small schools. - Many of our most memorable shows have been at small schools by themselves, and the energy is just as big. - You can also combine with a neighbouring school or OSHC if you wish, but it’s not required. - We can adapt staging and delivery to suit your space, ensuring it’s every bit as special. Every school - big or small - gets the same high-energy, professional JAM Band experience.
How do you support neurodivergent and diverse learners? We’re experienced in working with students of all abilities. - We offer visual schedules, ‘Can You Find’ prompts, and simple routines to support predictability. - Students can engage at their own comfort level - no pressure, just fun. - We’re happy to adjust specific elements if you let us know in advance. The aim is for every student to feel seen, safe and celebrated.
Can we invite friends or families to attend? Yes! You’re welcome to invite parents, carers or community members to share the experience. Community participation often amplifies the joy and sense of belonging, creating a memorable event for everyone involved.
Can I take photos or video during the show? Yes, please do! Schools are welcome to take and share photos or short videos. We love seeing your community enjoying the show, and you’re welcome to tag JAM Band in newsletters or social media (with your school’s media policies in mind).
What if I won’t be there on the day? That’s no problem. If another staff member is present, simply pass on our prep emails and materials. We make it very easy for any teacher to step in - they just need to: - Welcome the band and help with student coordination, - Distribute role stickers and - Enjoy the show with the students! Everything is designed to run smoothly with minimal teacher involvement.
